Race, Class, and Wizardry: Final Project
Due on Monday, May 8, at 11:59pm
For the final project, create and present an analysis of the ways segments of the Harry Potter fandom have written a specific identity group (queer people, Latinx people, trans people, African American people, Chinese American people, people with depression, &c) or issue (mental health, class, race and racism, &c) in the Harry Potter universe.
The vehicle for your analysis can be a website or a 10 to 12 page paper. (For graduate students enrolled in English 280, your paper should be 20 to 25 pages long.)
Your analysis should include a thesis, specific examples, an analysis of each of those examples, and some form of conclusion. If you are using a website as the vehicle for your analysis, feel free to deliver the different portions of your analysis as creatively and interactively as you can. Included images, video and audio clips, and other content, wherever appropriate. Feel free to contact me for examples of web-based analysis projects.
I will be holding office hours especially for our class on the two Thursday afternoons after Spring Break, from 1pm to 4pm. You are also, of course, welcome to come to my regular Tuesday office hours (10am to 12pm), as well.
Please include a bibliography with your project. If you are doing a web-based project, then your bibliography can be hyperlinked to any online sources you are including in your list of works cited.
